Chairmans Response to World Cup Ticket Newspaper Article

After reading the Newspaper Article published by the Halesowen Town News on 15th July for the avoidence of doubt I would like to present the facts surrounding this incident.

To summarise, the way the newspaper article was titled suggested that Mr Whitehouse had won the competition but was not awarded the prize. This is WHOLLY UNTRUE as the draw was not made on account of insufficient numbers entering the competition.

Here are the facts:

1. Mr Whitehouse DID NOT WIN the competition. He was one of several entrants who joined the community membership scheme which entered him automatically into the competition.

2. Terms and conditions were clearly indicated in the payments section of the pay site explaining that unless a specific number of entrants went in for the competition the doners reserved the right to withdraw the prize.

3. Mr Whitehouse was not called up as the winner of the competition. I called people personally to promote raport with the new community members who had made the effort to make a commitment towards supporting the football club.

4. Mr Whitehouse accepted my offer along with others, then the next day sent a letter explaining he now wanted a better prize than a season ticket as compensation and implying he may pursue legal action unless I complied.

5. Following the receipt of the letter advice confirmed we were protected by the terms and conditions of the competion. Under the circumstances it was suggested we may want to return the individuals money and withdraw all offers so he could make no claims.

Finally I find it unfortunate that Mr Whitehouse choose to present partial information to the local Newspapers that directed them to write an article that was not only innacurate and embarasing to the club but further damaging to our reputation in the local area.
