A New Year's Message from Brendan Phillips

From behind the scenes

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for 2010.

It certainly has been an eventual and sometimes traumatic 2009 for everyone connected with Halesowen Town Football Club.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all those who have supported the football club throughout what has been a very difficult period.

What has happened at this club is now behind us and we must all focus and deal with the future not the recent past.

I know of not one club at our level of football that exists coherently without embracing and working with their supporters and we will be no different going forward.

Our fans are amongst the very best in non league football we have a unique history which must be preserved and cherished.

Like all followers and supporters of the national game it has saddened me immensely to see the demise of some great and famous non league clubs over the past few seasons, most notably our former great rivals Kings Lynn Football Club from our Southern League days.

This is why all of us who care about the future well being of our club should get behind our new owners the Ingram Brothers 100%.

If it were not for Godfrey & Graham we could well have come to the same unfortunate end as Kings Lynn Football Club, who arguably have a bigger history and profile in the non league world than ourselves.

We have some magnificent people working behind the scenes and I would like to personally thank them all for the contribution they make for no financial gain, they do what they do for the love of the football club.

The same applies to our supporters and those who organise and book coaches to visits far off places like Truro & Bashely, and those who support their team home and away come rain or shine.

As we look forward to the New Year ahead my hope is that we can all work together to for the benefit of the club, supporters, and the wider community.

The club has to be run sensibly and we have to live within our means; we have to re-engage with the community, while striving to achieve success on the field of play and financial viability.

If we are to achieve these aims we have to all work together.

We will not get everything right all the time but we will try our best to achieve our aims.

We all have a part to play in rebuilding this football club.

Happy New Year
