WBA Match Postponed

Although a great deal has been spent to improve the playing surface following an inspection by The Ingram Brothers earlier in the week, concerns were raised as to whether the playing surface would be suitable to host a premiership club.

Graham Ingram explained " We've spent a packet on the pitch but progress has been slow owing to a combination of the hot dry summer and inadequate watering facilities at the ground. Groundsman Paul Dunston assisted by Mick Serge have done a trememdous job but after inspecting the pitch on Tuesday we felt we should raise the alarm with WBA and ask them to come and have a look. After their inspection we all agreed the match should not go ahead as there would be no benefit for the type of football both sides want to play if the surface is not ready."

Graham Added "Although it will be dissapointing for fans the match not going ahead, what is more important is the relationship building exercise based on honesty now taking place between the two clubs. I've made it no secret that we want to work with WBA on all levels. Raising our concerns and bringing them in on it for an executive decision has hopefully demonstrated our sincerity in working together."

It is hoped that the match will be rescheduled at some point before Christmas.

The club now looks forward to more time for the pitch to shape up for the forthcoming season.
